Cartoons with a twist
Cartoons with a twist
Sara Granér, social commentator
26 April-29 May 2014
Sara Granér is one of Sweden's most interesting cartoonists. Her imagery is powerful with twisted animal figures, and texts containing social critique, satire and humour.
She has participated in exhibitions abroad and has had a solo exhibition at Kulturhuset in Stockholm.
Sara Granér has won several awards, including the Adamson statuette at Gothenburg Book Fair in 2013. The Swedish Cartoon Academy's justification reads: "Sara Granér is an assertive artist. She gets the prize, above all, because she keeps her eyes and ears open to the possibilities of language. Her linguistic escapades are often as black, absurd, bizarre and frivolous as her cartoon animal/human figures."
The cartoons are published in Galago, ETC and Dagens Nyheter. Sara Granér has also published three books: " All I want for Christmas is planekonomi " (2012),
"Med vänlig hälsning" (2010) and "Det är bara lite aids" (2008).
